DoT Authorised Inspection Station

Collie Auto-Tech are an Authorised Inspection Station (AIS) for the Department of Transport.

If you wish to register a vehicle in Western Australia, have been issued a defect notice (a.k.a - yellow sticker), forgot to pay your registration so it has lapsed, you want to licence a repairable write-off or if you have a vehicle that has been modified you will need to get a DoT Inspection.

Some vehicles are also subject to annual inspection, such as Taxis, Ubers and other vehicles used specifically for passenger transport and should be notified if their vehicle requires an inspection. You may also need an inspection if the certificate for a previous inspection has expired (valid for 3 months)

We are fully authorised to perform Vehicle DoT inspections (Pit Inspections) on your vehicle and provide you with the documentation to enable you to get your vehicle registered.

You may need to get your vehicle examined for the following reasons:

  • You need to license (register) your vehicle in Western Australia for the first time or registration has lapsed.
  • You have been issued a compliance notice - (commonly called a yellow sticker, work order or defect notice).
  • Your vehicle has been modified - (for example: change in vehicle body, new engine, dimensions).
  • Your vehicle requires annual examination (buses, taxis and other types of passenger vehicles must be examined annually (at the time of vehicle licence/registration renewal).
  • To license a repairable written-off vehicle.

If you have an unregistered vehicle and need to get it to us for a DoT inspection or certain repairs required to pass an inspection you will need to get a Temporary Movement Permit. Visit www.transport.wa.gov.au to find out more about Temporary Movement Permits
